Park Construction & Operations
Civic Park will be the next park built at Hemisfair. Nine acres of beautiful, shade-filled greenspace will be surrounded by park-activating amenities. With sightlines of the Tower of the Americas and the Tower Life Building, Civic Park is sure to become one of your favorite downtown destinations.
During construction, operational support helps to maintain Hemisfair’s first park, Yanaguana Garden, keeping it clean, safe, active and fun for all ages and abilities.
Hemisfair is home to 21 historic structures, many of which date back to the 1800s. After years of vacancy and neglect, these homes are now receiving the care and attention they deserve. Donations help stabilize each home’s exterior and rehabilitate the interior. Once restored, these homes serve a dual purpose: providing opportunities for local businesses to thrive and contributing to Hemisfair’s financial sustainability.
San Antonio has a long history of protecting its natural resources, and Hemisfair will continue to uphold that tradition. Previously, donations made it possible to transplant 31 mature trees that were in danger of being cut down. Today we are raising funds to plant 215 additional trees throughout Civic Park, creating a vibrant, green oasis in the heart of San Antonio.
Over 500 events are held at Hemisfair each year, 98% of which are free thanks to sponsorships and donations. Park-goers enjoy weekly programs like Story Time, Big Blue Blocks, and various health and wellness activities. Monthly events include Super Fun Saturdays, Art in the Park and outdoor movies. A new inclusion program will launch in March, providing opportunities for people of all abilities to play, explore, learn and support one another.
